Biography
Pandit Devabrata (Debu) Chaudhuri (30 May 1935 – 1 May 2021) was an Indian sitarist and teacher associated with the Senia gharana. He was a disciple of Ustad Mushtaq Ali Khan and trained under Panchu Gopal Datta.
He began playing sitar at an early age and performed on All India Radio from 1953. He was associated with teaching and served as dean and head of the Faculty of Music at the University of Delhi.
He composed new ragas and authored books on Indian music. He was awarded the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan.
Debu Chaudhuri died on 1 May 2021 in Delhi.
