Bhushan Parchure

Bhushan Parchure is a professional tabla artist working in Hindustani classical music. He started his tabla training at the age of six under Shri Shruti Sunder of the Farrukhabad gharana and continued with him for nine years. In 1998, he joined the Ustad Allarakha School, where he trained under Ustad Alla Rakha. After Alla Rakha’s demise, Bhushan continued his advanced training under Ustad Zakir Hussain. His total training under these maestros spans over fourteen years.

He performs as a solo tabla player and also accompanies leading vocalists and instrumentalists in classical concerts. Bhushan has performed widely in India and internationally, including at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympics.

He has collaborated with international artists such as Ross Daly (Greece), Eduardo Niebla (Spain), and Lebanese percussionist Ronny Barrac. His first solo album, Rhythms of the Heart, was released by Saregama.

Bhushan also works as a tabla instructor at institutions including IIT Bombay and the American School of Bombay. He is a recipient of a National Scholarship from the Government of India.
