Bheemanna Jadhav

Pandit Bhimanna Jadhav is a distinguished maestro of the Sundri, a traditional double-reed wind instrument closely related to the Shehnai but shorter in length and higher in pitch. He hails from Solapur, Maharashtra, and represents the Jadhav Gharana, a unique musical lineage historically devoted to the development and continuation of the Sundri tradition.

His training began at an early age under the guidance of his grandfather, Pandit Sidram Jadhav, followed by advanced instruction from his father, Pandit Chidanand Jadhav. This rigorous, family-based training ensured the transmission of both technical mastery and stylistic authenticity associated with the instrument.

Recognizing the need to preserve the Sundri for future generations, Pandit Bhimanna Jadhav founded the Jadhav Sangeet Vidyalaya, where he actively trains students in this art form. His role as a teacher has been central to keeping the instrument alive beyond his immediate family.

As a performer, he has appeared at several prestigious national platforms, including the Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan and the National Programme of Music broadcast by All India Radio. His contributions have earned him honors such as the title "Surmani," and he is widely acknowledged for bringing international attention to the Sundri.

Pandit Bhimanna Jadhav frequently performs with members of his family, including his son Vyankateshkumar Jadhav, continuing a multi-generational legacy rooted in tradition, discipline, and cultural preservation.
