Biography
Bhavana Reddy is an internationally acclaimed Kuchipudi dancer, choreographer, vocalist, and educator from India. Born into the legendary Reddy family of Kuchipudi exponents, she is the daughter and disciple of Padma Bhushan awardees Raja Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy. She began her formal training at the age of four and quickly emerged as a child prodigy, performing on major stages from an early age and gaining recognition for her expressive abhinaya and technical command of the classical form.
Over the years, Bhavana Reddy has established herself as a leading contemporary representative of the Kuchipudi dance tradition, performing extensively across India, the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. She has appeared at prestigious venues and festivals including the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Saddler’s Wells in London, and the Bengal Classical Music Festival in Dhaka. Her repertoire includes both traditional dance-dramas such as Bhamakalapam and innovative productions that blend classical technique with modern themes and global collaborations.
In addition to performance, Bhavana Reddy is actively engaged in teaching, research, and cultural diplomacy. She is the founder of the International Center for Kuchipudi Dance (ICKD), an online platform connecting students from across the world. A recipient of the Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, she has also been empanelled as an artist with institutions such as ICCR and Doordarshan, presenting Indian classical dance on international cultural platforms while mentoring a new generation of Kuchipudi practitioners.
