Bharat Kamat

Pt. Bharat Kamat was born and raised in Pune and has emerged as one of India's leading tabla artists. Coming from a family of tabla exponents, he began learning the instrument at the age of five under the guidance of his father, Pt. Chandrakant Kamat. He started his professional career in 1987 alongside Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki. Kamat has performed at several prominent national festivals, including the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Festival, Vasantotsav, and Ragmala. He played the tabla for Pt. Bhimsen Joshi for an impressive 18 consecutive years, participating in over 1,000 performances across India and around the world until Joshi's last concert before his passing.

He has taken part in all the leading music festivals in India and has toured internationally in countries such as the USA, the UK, the UAE, Switzerland, and Germany. Additionally, Kamat has collaborated with various recording labels, including HMV, Rhythm House, and Navras Records in London, and he regularly broadcasts with All India Radio and Doordarshan.
