Biography

Vidwan Bangalore V. Praveen is a renowned Carnatic classical mridangam artist based in Bengaluru, recognized as a leading exponent of the Tanjore bani (style) of percussion. A child prodigy, he began performing at a young age and represents a lineage-driven approach to Carnatic rhythm, combining traditional technique with concert adaptability.

Trained initially under his father, Shri M. L. Veerabhadraiah, and later under the legendary Palghat Mani Iyer, he developed a strong foundation in mridangam accompaniment. Over the course of his career, he has performed alongside major Carnatic musicians, including M. S. Subbulakshmi, Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, Mandolin U. Srinivas, and N. Ramani, contributing to both vocal and instrumental concerts.

He has received several recognitions, including Best Mridangam Player from the Music Academy, Chennai, and titles such as Mrudanga Chakravarthy and Gunakala Shree. A graded artist of All India Radio, he continues to perform at major festivals and classical music events, maintaining an active presence in the Indian classical music circuit.
