Biography

B. Sivaraman is among the notable mridangam artists in Carnatic classical music today, shaped by the rich percussion lineage of Tanjavur Vaidhyanatha Iyer through his guru Dr. T.K. Murthy. His early exposure to concerts at home laid the foundation for a career that began in his teens. Over the years, he has accompanied celebrated vidwans and vidushis across India’s premier sabhas and has undertaken extensive international tours. Sivaraman has also contributed to research projects on the “72 Melakartha Talas” and “108 Talas,” supporting their release in recorded media formats. Honoured as an A-Grade artist by All India Radio, Chennai, he has received several awards including the “Best Mridangist of the Year” title from Krishna Gana Sabha. Known for his versatility, he has performed with Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain in the United States.
