Aslam Khan

Ustad Aslam Hussain Khan (1940–2018) was a senior Hindustani classical vocalist recognized for his deep engagement with traditional khayal singing and for maintaining repertoire across multiple gharana lineages. His music reflected a balance of scholarship, performance, and preservation.

He was among the relatively few vocalists associated with three streams of tradition—Khurja, Jaipur-Atrauli, and Agra. This multi-lineage grounding shaped a style that combined structural clarity, attention to raga grammar, and weighty voice production. His gayaki emphasized traditional presentation over display, aligning with older concert aesthetics.

Composer: “Khushrang”

While rooted in classical music, he also engaged with semi-classical and light-classical forms. He sang for films, including Kahan Se Aaye Badarwa, and recorded ghazal albums such as Mehekti Ghazlen.
