About
Biography
Her musical journey started in childhood in Indore, where she received foundational training from Usha Khandekar and Rajeshwari Dikshit. She later studied under Smita Mokashi and Dr. Chhaya Matange, and during her formative years also learned harmonium and tabla. Her vocal development, particularly in the traditional gayaki style, was shaped over a decade under Smita Mokashi, with focused work in semi-classical forms such as thumri, bhajans, and related genres.
After relocating to Pune, she began advanced training under Shri Rajiv Paranjpe, under whose guidance she has continued her learning for more than ten years. Alongside this, she pursued and completed a master’s degree in music from SNDT University, Pune.
Her performance career began at the age of nine, initially through small concerts at religious venues and chhote khayal mehfils. Over time, she has received various scholarships and awards that supported her continued engagement with music. She has developed a particular affinity for thumri, dadra, and natya sangeet and incorporates these forms into her concert repertoire.
She is a graded artist of All India Radio in both the Hindustani classical and semi-classical categories. As a vocalist, she frequently collaborates with Kathak dancers across India and also participates in fusion-based projects, reflecting an ongoing engagement with both traditional and contemporary performance contexts.
