Biography

Ambarish Das is a Hindustani classical vocalist and an A-grade artist of All India Radio, Kolkata. He is a dedicated disciple of Ustad Maskoor Ali Khan of the Kirana Gharana, a lineage known for its emphasis on pure notes, slow development of raga, and emotional depth. His training under this tradition has shaped his music with balance, patience, and clarity of expression.

Born in Kolkata and continuing to reside there, Ambarish has remained closely connected to the city's cultural life. His academic path reflects a strong foundation, having studied at Scottish Church Collegiate School, followed by higher education at City College and the University of Calcutta. Alongside his studies, he pursued music with seriousness, allowing both learning and art to grow together.

A memorable portion of his work includes his presentation of Raag Puriya, captured by Amitabha Kahali and organized by Lahiri Paribaar and Chhandayan at Ashutosh Memorial Hall. The performance reflected his calm approach to raga, where mood, structure, and emotion unfold with natural flow. His music often finds a place on such curated platforms that value depth and tradition.

Ambarish is also part of significant concert initiatives. The prestigious classical dance and music group SARATHI, based in Toronto, announced its production Vasant Agaman at Gyan Manch, featuring distinguished artists, including him. Such invitations highlight his growing presence beyond regional boundaries while staying rooted in classical values.

His journey further includes uplifting concert experiences such as the Haldia program, curated by Parampara.
